Who You Are Dealing With

Most of the houses we work on in this part of Brevard County went up between 1966 and 2003, with a lot of that stock concentrated in the 1960s and 70s across the dozen-plus named neighborhoods we cover - June Park, West Melbourne, and the beachside communities like Indialantic and Satellite Beach among them. That matters because a door installed in 1978 and a door installed in 1998 use different spring systems, different track widths, and sometimes hardware nobody stocks on the truck without a call ahead.

The climate here is mild temperate, not the freeze-thaw conditions that wreck openers up north, but the humidity and salt air near the beach communities still take a toll on springs and hinges faster than a dry inland climate would. We work on both ends of that: older torsion setups on original housing stock and newer opener electronics on homes built closer to 2003.

We're not a franchise with a national script. We're one company serving one stretch of Florida coastline, and the jobs we take reflect what actually breaks on houses this age in this weather, not a generic checklist.

What We Do Not Take On

We don't do new home construction framing or structural garage openings - that's a general contractor job, not a door repair job. If your opening needs to be resized or the header reframed, we'll tell you that up front instead of taking the call anyway.

We also don't stock every obsolete part on the truck. A door from the earlier end of that 1966-2003 build window can have hardware that's been discontinued, and if a part has to be special-ordered, that's a lead time we're honest about rather than a same-day promise we can't keep. Sometimes, once you're past that point, replacing the door is the better math than chasing parts for one that's done.

Lastly, we don't service areas well outside the radius listed above - once you're past Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, or Micco, you're better served by a company closer to home. We'd rather say that plainly than take a job we can't get to promptly.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in Melbourne. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

Why do so many Melbourne garage doors still have the original springs?

A lot of the local housing was built between 1966 and 2003, with much of it from the 1960s and 70s, and plenty of those original torsion or extension springs are still in service. Springs don't last forever - they're rated in cycles - so a 40 to 50 year old spring that hasn't been replaced is usually near or past its working life.

Does Melbourne's climate affect garage door hardware?

The area sits in a mild temperate band, so we don't see the freeze-thaw damage that cracks panels in colder regions. That said, coastal humidity still corrodes rollers, cables, and unprotected hardware over the years, especially on doors that have never had a lubrication or hardware check.

Can you match parts on an older door?

Sometimes. Houses built earlier in the 1966-2003 range can have spring sizes or track hardware that isn't a common stock item anymore. We bring likely sizes based on the build era, but on some older doors we may need a substitution, which we'll explain before doing the work.

Is it better to repair or replace an old door?

It depends on the door and what's failing. If the track, hardware, and panels are sound and it's just a spring or opener, repair makes sense. If panels are failing on a door old enough that matching parts aren't made anymore, replacement is usually the more honest long-term answer.
